Privacy, plainly.
PairPlate is operated by Nathan Cole. For privacy questions or requests, contact banjonay@icloud.com.
What we use and why
We process account identifiers, email and profile details to sign you in and maintain your account; meals, nutrition entries and targets to provide your diary; and Circle membership, invitations, reactions and shared activity to provide features you choose to use. Managed profiles and coach relationships store the details you enter and the access you grant.
Optional uploads include an avatar and progress photos. Avatars may be visible to people you interact with and anyone with their image URL. Progress photos are held separately in private storage, accessed through your account with temporary image links.
We use device push tokens for requested notifications, purchase and entitlement information for paid access, and technical request/usage records to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service. Apple handles payment-card details; PairPlate does not receive your card number.
Optional AI and food lookup
If you choose AI meal analysis, the meal description or image is sent through our backend to OpenAI for an editable nutrition estimate. Voice logging sends the recording for transcription. Avoid including personal details unrelated to your meal. Barcode lookups can send the product barcode to Open Food Facts. QR invitations use QuickChart to render the invite link. These providers receive the information needed for the chosen feature.
Apple Health
With your permission, PairPlate reads steps, active energy and body mass for your personal context, and can write calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat from meals you choose to sync. Health access is optional and can be revoked in iOS. Health data is not used for advertising, sold, or sent to the AI meal-analysis provider. Turning off access does not remove entries already saved in Apple Health.
Who receives information
Supabase provides account, database and file storage services. Apple provides sign-in, purchases and Health permissions; Expo provides push delivery; OpenAI provides requested AI processing; Cloudflare hosts this website. Their infrastructure may process information outside your country. Circle members and coaches receive information through the sharing features and relationships you choose. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Your choices and rights
We use account and diary data to provide the service you request, optional permissions and consent for optional health and media features, and legitimate interests to keep the service reliable and secure. Where consent is required, you can withdraw it by disabling the feature or contacting us. You can request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your information; depending on your location you may also object to or restrict processing. Contact banjonay@icloud.com. UK users may raise concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Retention and deletion
Account and diary information is kept while needed to provide your account and the features you use. You can request account deletion in You → Settings → Account. Some technical records, backups or purchase records may remain for security, recovery or legal obligations; contact us for details about your particular data. Deleting your account does not cancel Apple subscriptions or delete Health records on your device.
